sairesinspace asked: Hi there! I hope i'm not bothering you, but im going to start Neuroscience this september in Keele and saying im pretty nervous would be an understatement! I just wanted to know how its like studying Neuroscience? I mean, I love the course but sometimes teachers can get the most interesting topics and ruin them... so if its not too much of a hassle, could you tell me a little bit about the course and lectures, projects etc there? I'd appreciate any little piece of info, thanks in advance!

Hi, sorry I’ve only just got round to answering this, I don’t come on that much anymore! I was really nervous as well so don’t worry aha, everyone’s the same if not more nervous! First year is pretty much A level biology, not really that focused on neuro. They have to do that so everyone’s up to the same speed on what they know science wise for when you start your more specific modules. The jump from first year to second is massive and it does get harder, as long as you stay on top of your reading etc though it’s fine. The course is a mix of labs and lectures and it really is interesting because they supplement each other really well. Going to the med school was a highlight as we got to examine real human brains, bit gruesome though! Lectures wise it can be hit and miss, some are amazing and others can be arseholes. If you find one you like and engage with then stick with them as they’ll be your best friend in 3rd year when doing your final year project. The project is the biggest and probably hardest thing you’ll do so it really helps if you’ve got a good tutor. If there’s anything else I’ve missed let me know, hope this helps :)
